Janet watched Teal'c, curiosity rampantly speeding through her veins.
"So, why exactly is he going to be hunted by the Goa'uld?"
Teal'c nodded to her, acknowledging the intent of the question.
"They are allergic to his blood. Non-Goa'uld races will hunt him for the means to remove symbiotes from their bodies...draining him as fast as he can produce the liquid. Goa'uld will hunt him for
his eyes that will turn to a rare crystal once removed from his body as well as to remove a lethal weapon against them from the hands of those who would use his blood against the Goa'uld."
Jack stared at Daniel, worry for his friend's safety overriding his fear.
Teal'c's next statement caused everyone to blanch with both memory of just such an event as well as sudden realization of just how
close a call it had been.
"A Goa'uld Queen might take him in order to breed a race of Goa'uld impervious to everything both the Latrici and the Goa'uld are safe from. They would be nearly
unstoppable."
Jack swallowed, trying to wrap his mind around this information.
Daniel had always been this...that meant that nothing had been taken away, just added to.
Jack looked around at the cowed natives.
"Did they understand anything of what just happened?"
Teal'c followed his gaze.
"I do not believe so."
"Then let's get going...what?"
Daniel shook his head as he responded.
"Jack, Sam hasn't woken up. She needs to have time to adjust to her new body before..."
Jack paused a moment, silently freaking.
"Excuse me? You mean you just made her into a...vampire?"
"Not yet, but yes, the first two stages will have to be complete before she'll be able
to be moved."
"What's the next stage?"
Daniel smiled, his green eyes sparkling as the sun went down behind him.
"She'll drink my blood herself and then sleep...for twelve to
fifteen hours while her body finishes the transformation. Then, when she wakes up, she'll feed."
"Feed?"
"Feed."
Jack looked sick.
"On what...exactly?"
Daniel pointed to the field beyond, well aware of what his friend was afraid of.
"We don't drink human blood Jack. Well, some do, but not my clan. It's a long battle we've been fighting for a long
time."
"Soo...."
"So I'll take her hunting and show her how. I don't abandon my childes."
"Childs?"
"I've sired her, Jack. We're bonded."
Jack raised an eyebrow, wondering just how far that went.
"Ah...well...as long as everyone's clear on that." @~~~{{`~~~~~'}}~~~@
Janet tried to control her voice as she spoke.
"Daniel, do you mind if I monitor the both of you while you go through this?"
"No...I trust you."
Janet ignored the nagging voice that reminded her he hadn't trusted her enough to
reveal this before.
"Are you able to sense other vampires like Sam senses Goa'uld?"
"Not really...we can sense they're around, but not where exactly...not unless we're bonded or kin.
Then we sense them easily...it's a tingling in my feet."
Jack snickered and then stood up, stretching out his back and knees.
He wasn't going to just sit and let them see how upset his entire world had become.
"I guess we're camping here folks. Teal'c take first watch. Doc...watch them. I'll cook."@~~~{{`~~~~~'}}~~~@
Sam stirred and Jack found himself transfixed by the look of sheer lust in her eyes.
He trembled at the power surging through his veins, practically yanking him toward her.
A hand on his shoulder startled him and he blinked rapidly for a second.
"You okay?"
Jack looked up at Daniel, unable to keep from being annoyed with the mysterious smile on his best friend's
face.
"Yeah...Carter woke up and it was..."
"Huh?"
Daniel walked over to Sam and shook her.
"Jack, she's not awake...she couldn't be awake yet..." |
